The Bradley Band program has won several prestigious awards this school year.

JAZZ ALONG THE MEDINA:
March 7, 1998
The 7th Honors Jazz band won Best overall band in division CC.

The Eighth Honors jazz band won Best overall band in division CCC along with several section awards including: Best Saxophone section, Best Trumpet section, Best Trombone section, Best Rhythm section, Best trombone soloist, and Best drum soloist.

UIL CONCERT AND SIGHTREADING CONTEST:
March 31-April 1, 1998
The Seventh Grade Honors concert band received a superior rating in their concert performance as well as a superior rating in sightreading resulting in a sweepstakes award.

The Eighth Grade Honors concert band received a superior rating in their concert performance as well as a superior rating in sightreading resulting in a sweepstakes award.

FIESTA JAZZ FESTIVAL:
April 25, 1998
The Seventh Grade Second Jazz Band received a plaque for Division C.

The Seventh Grade Honors Jazz Band received a First Place Trophy for Division CC.

The Eighth Grade Honors Jazz Band received a First Place Trophy for Division CCC.

The drum set player for Eighth Grade Honors Jazz Band won Outstanding Musician for the Middle School contest.

Mrs. Emily Gurwitz, director of the Seventh Grade Second Jazz Band, won the Outstanding Director Award for the Middle School Contest.

21 Performers from the three Bradley Jazz Bands were recognized as part of the "All Star Band".

1998-1999

REGION ORCHESTRA AUDITIONS
October 24, 1998
Selected seventh and eighth grade band members competed in the Region 12 Orchestra Audions held at Bradley Middle School. A total of eight students from Bradley Middle School were selected to be in the concertino and con brio orchestras. One student was selected as an alternate. Three students were selected as First Chair players in the Flute, Bass Clarinet, and Trombone sections!

ALL REGION JAZZ AUDITIONS
March 29, 1999
Members of Eighth Honors Jazz Band participated in the Region Jazz Tryouts at Woodlake Hills Middle School. Nine members made the All-Region Jazz Band, more than any other school participating.

PALO ALTO JAZZ FESTIVAL
April 9, 1999
Members of Eighth Honors Jazz Band participated in the Palo Alto Jazz Festival. The jazz band placed first in the Middle School Division. The band also received four Outstanding Soloist Awards.

ALAMO TOURNAMENT OF MUSIC
April 17, 1999
The Eighth Honors Jazz Band and Eighth Honors Concert Band competed in the Alamo Tournament of Music held at South San Antonio High School. Both bands placed first in their divisions.
